Shipping from Turkey to Europe
Road, sea or air — and why road freight is the quiet advantage most sourcing conversations skip past.
Shipping is often treated as an afterthought in sourcing conversations, but from Turkey it's actually one of the strongest arguments for sourcing there in the first place.
Road freight to most of continental Europe typically takes days, not weeks — a meaningful advantage for seasonal products, fast fashion cycles, or any business that can't tie up working capital in six weeks of ocean transit.
Sea freight remains relevant for very large or heavy shipments where cost per unit matters more than speed, and Turkey's ports (particularly around Istanbul and Izmir) are well connected to Mediterranean and Northern European routes.
Air freight is reserved for urgent, high-value, low-volume shipments — samples, replacement parts, or launch inventory where the freight cost is justified by the timeline.
The right mode depends on your product's value density and timeline sensitivity, and a good sourcing partner will model these options against your actual order profile rather than defaulting to whatever the factory's forwarder prefers.
