Turkey vs China Manufacturing
Not a replacement — a different trade-off. When proximity, flexibility and lead time outweigh the lowest unit price.
Turkey and China aren't interchangeable, and the right comparison isn't 'which is cheaper' — for most product categories, China still wins on raw unit price at very high volumes. The comparison that matters is total cost and risk across your specific order.
Turkey's advantage is proximity: road freight to most of the EU in days rather than the 4-6 weeks typical of sea freight from China, which matters directly for cash flow, seasonal products, and re-order flexibility. It also means faster sample cycles and easier factory visits.
MOQ flexibility is the other differentiator. Turkish manufacturers, particularly in furniture, textiles and metal fabrication, are often structured to accommodate mid-sized orders that would be uneconomical for a factory built around 20,000-unit minimums.
For established brands running very high, stable volumes with long lead-time tolerance, China often remains the more efficient base. For brands that need faster iteration, smaller batches, or EU-facing logistics simplicity, Turkey is frequently the better trade-off — not a cheaper one, a smarter one.
